Inconsolata, the best font for programming

Recently, I changed the font used for programming to Inconsolata . I have combined this with Takao Gothic as a Japanese font, but these two are very compatible and very easy to see. In the article “Top 10 Programming Fonts” ( Japanese translation ), it is introduced as the first place.

Both fonts are free to use, and Ubuntu comes with a standard package so you can easily install it.

For OS other than Ubuntu, you can download the font directly from here.
(Somehow Google font directory has TTF file)

  • Inconsolata.otf
  • Inconsolata.ttf
  • Takao font

I often write code in Emacs 23 on X, but the actual look is like this.
